Edward gets his typing diploma.

For several months now, Edward has been doing a touch typing course organised by Instituut Succes. On 16th March he did his exam, and on Thursday 6th April Edward picked up his "Diploma Computertypen met basiskennis tekstverwerking in Word", which means: Certificate for typing on a computer with basic word processing skills for Microsoft Word.

The typing requirements were to get a minimum of 80 keystrokes a minute (after deduction of typing errors). This is calculated as follows:
net_number_of_keystrokes_per_minute = (gross_number_of_keystrokes - number_of_typos * 10) / duration_of_typing
Edward didn't merely pass, he made it into the top 15 with 187 keystrokes a minute! (That's about 37 words a minute.)

For the word processing he got 8,5 out of 10. During the exam they are tested on a selection of some 50 skills which they have been taught. These include file management, editing, tabulation, block maniputlation, macros, spellchecking, printing, special characters, word hyphenation and a host of formatting options.
